Post Rehab Training

Movement Matters

As we grow older we move differently. The way we sit, walk, run, sleep, and work, etc., adds up to a body that develops restrictions in movement. The underlying cause is tight muscles, and the overall impact restricts movement and can leave us experiencing pain and feeling old before our time. The solution lies in addressing your body’s soft tissue, improving mobility, stabilization, balance and strength. At Body Basics Fitness we believe that your journey begins with a proper fitness assessment. We take the guesswork out by determining what your limiting factors are so we can focus on you as an individual.

Who is Rehab Training for?

  • Anyone who has recently completed their physical therapy or treatments with a medical clinician and are now pain free.
  • Anyone who has been in a chronic pain cycle for a number of years but hasn’t been able to find relief.
  • Anyone who has been sedentary for a long time and are feeling aches and pains and “old” before their time.
  • Anyone that is new to exercise or has been away from the gym for a number of years and wants to reorient themselves with exercise in a safe and effective way.

In short, this program is for anyone who is ready to begin the process of moving better, increasing range of motion, improving your balance, strengthening your core and trunk, living a more active life and turning back the age clock!

Motor Learning We encourage you to engage in the training process so that you learn. Once you know what to do you are well on your way to taking control of your body for the rest of your life.

Functional Movement

We use the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) as one of our systems to evaluate human movement. The FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are essential to normal function. Looking at these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These issues can reduce the effectiveness of functional training and physical conditioning. The FMS generates a score used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns. We monitor the FMS score to track progress and to identify those exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength in each individual.

Communication – The FMS utilizes simple language, making it easy for individuals, exercise professionals, and physicians to communicate clearly about progress and treatment.

Evaluation – The screen identifies asymmetries and limitations, reducing the need for extensive testing and analysis. Standardization – The FMS creates a functional baseline to mark progress and provides a means to measure performance.

Safety – The FMS quickly identifies dangerous movement patterns so that they can be addressed. It also indicates an individual’s readiness to perform exercise so that realistic goals can be set and achieved.

Corrective Strategies – The FMS can be applied at any fitness level. It identifies specific exercises based on individual FMS scores to create customized treatment plans and exercise programs.
